ACEP: Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology

The 15th annual ACEP conference is now over, and it was one of the best I’ve experienced. For the first time Continuing Education Units were accepted by the American Psychological Association representing a broader acceptance of this new field and approach to health and wellness.

ACEP members weave a network of energy psychologists and energy health practitioners across the globe: USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The best thing about the conference is the wonderful people I meet year after year. This year I walked in for the first general meeting and the second person I said hello to was my Twitter friend Jill Leigh! And, she was presenting a break out session at the conference. It really is a small world.

Today I am a Soul Detective because Barbara Stone, the developer of the Soul Detective protocols, was one of the teachers for my Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology class. I believe the combined energy of our group brings a new consciousness into the field, continuing to open minds to the possibility of hidden spiritual issues. “Soul Detective® protocols help therapists resolve the spiritual aspects of mental illness so their clients can regain autonomy and fulfill their soul’s mission” ~Barbara Stone.

2013 Conference Keynotes educated and motivated each attendee to reach new heights of competence and understanding. William Tiller challenged us with his vast knowledge, and while I understood little of the science he presented, I sure felt his presence and the importance of his contributions.

• David Feinstein – What Does Energy Have to do With Energy Psychology?
• Joan Boysenko – The Science and Psychology of Ancient Wisdom
• William Tiller – Towards an Orthodox Science that is Capable of Meaningfully Integrating with Psychotherapy and the Healing Arts
• Roger Jahnke – The Qi: Ancient Roots of Energy Consciousness Medicine
• Eben Alexander – Proof of Heaven

The highlight for me and many others was Eben Alexander’s heart felt presentation about his near death experience during a deep coma caused by E. coli meningitis. Dr. Alexander has purposefully labored with the content of his experience, chronicling the event in great depth and detail in order to digest as much of it as humanly possible. As a physician and neurosurgeon, he has insight that no other could possibly have because he understands both the science and the human experience of his journey. The amount of love and care he experienced and the magnitude of the spiritual events bring a new level of spiritual reality into the world. I am reading his book at this moment, and I can tell you it is worth your time.

  • Janet, I’m so happy to see your post. Again, it’s Twitter magic because I only heard of ACEP because Jill Leigh couldn’t make the weekly #spiritchat last week because she was there. Of course that’s also the way I learned about you!

This is the first I’ve heard of Soul Detectives and the concept resonates deeply with me. I love it when something new jumps out at me. So much of what we don’t consciously understand has a spiritual root under it.

The line-up of conference speakers sounds fabulous. Oddly I have Dr. Alexander’s book in my house somewhere and the last two times I’ve gone looking for it, I couldn’t find it. Perhaps your mention will “call” it to me. Otherwise I’ll be getting another copy!

      • Dear Janet,
I’m glad we’re friends now too. In regards to my work, It’s been a wild journey. I was a Chemical Engineer and long-time IBM’er who didn’t believe in God when my intuitive healing abilities spontaneously surfaced, a couple years later I trained in Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure) and quit IBM two weeks after I got certified, then had more mind-boggling experiences reading the Akashic Records. I would never have opted for any of this but am thrilled with it all! I’m glad the universe found a way to get me out of my own way. Anyway, I look forward to getting better acquainted.
        All the best,
        Christy

          • Dear Janet,
I just watched the Super Soul Sunday episode on Eben Alexander we’ve had in our TiVo queue since December, believe it or not! I love how the lines between science and spirit are blurring. I’m so grateful you mentioned him here.
            Thank you,
            Christy
